Inbound Email

The normal GSuite account setup process with MX records enable GSuite to handle incoming email from anywhere.

Outbound Email

NOTE: in addition to the plugin below, this can be handled with the “Post SMTP” aka “Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log” plugin (see thepactinsitute.com)

To get WordPress to use GSuite SMTP mail servers for outbound mail:

note: this is in place for trumpetvine.com and morganhart.com

  1. Install the WP Gmail SMTP plugin
  2. Log in to the GSuite admin and click Security then Basic Settings then Less Secure Apps, then choose “Allow users to manage…”.
  3. Click on the account avatar and choose “Google Account”
  4. Click Security on the lefthand menu.
  5. Ensure that 2 step verification os off
  6. Go to the “Less Secure App Access section” and turn that on
  7. In the WordPress admin click Gmail SMTP on the left and click “Allow Sending” at the top.”
  8. go to the Email Options tab, fill it out, and at the bottom put in the login/password email for the GSuite admin account
  9. Go to the Test Email tab and send a test to any email address. The confirmation screen should indicate a positive result.
